Elliot Lake city council has given its approval to the addition of two names to the municipal names lists.
Council has approved the names of Rejean Cyr and Fabris as eligible to be used for renaming assets in the city.
Economic development manager Steven Antunes says any additions to the list can be used to rename attractions, streets and other landmarks within the city, but it is also reviewed every year.
He says with the approval, the Spine Road Cross Country Ski Trail will become the Rejean Cyr Cross Country Ski Trail to honour the long-time volunteer, and Esten Drive North will be ceremonially renamed Fabris Drive after a long-time businessman.
Council agreed with a staff recommendation that the asset renaming be ceremonial, meaning they won’t bring any changes to registered municipal names or street addresses.
