Residents in the Agnew Lake area have received notice that Vale, the mining company, will be drawing down water in the vicinity.
According to the notice, the company says there is about 8.5 inches of water in the snowpack and snow levels remain high upstream on the Vermilion and Spanish Rivers.
That in turn could lead to high water levels during the spring melt.
To alleviate that, the company will use its dam and pump system to gradually release the water in an attempt to prevent flooding.
The operation will continue until their staff says the groundwater and river levels have stabilized.
