Russia pushing offensive
Russia is stepping up its offensive against Ukraine, with reports that three cities in western Ukraine are being bombed this morning.
The cities had suffered little damage so far in the war.
The southern port city of Mariupol is also coming under renewed bombardment, it’s been surrounded for more than a week.
Reports say that a giant Russian convoy of troops, tanks, and supplies that’s been lined up near the capital of Kyiv is now dispersing into the surrounding countryside.
Analysts say it could be the first step in a final assault on the city.
Ukrainian officials say about 100-thousand people from seven cities under attack have managed to flee through humanitarian corridors over the past few days.
More funding for PSW training
The provincial government is expanding its efforts to train more personal support workers.
It’s offering four-thousand dollars in financial support to those taking PSW courses in private career colleges.
Last year, the program helped about three-thousand people, so this year, it’s aiming to assist four thousand.
The government says it’s part of its promise to provide an average of four hours of direct care per day to long-term care residents.
Charest back in the mix
Former federal Conservative leader Jean Charest is back in the game.
Charest, who also served as Liberal premier of Quebec, has formally announced his candidacy for the party’s national leadership.
He’s the third candidate to enter the race.
Former Ontario P-C leader Patrick Brown is expected to announce his run for the job on Sunday.
