The East Algoma OPP is assisting the Elliot Lake Fire Department in investigating a fire in the city.
OPP Constable Phil Young says on Tuesday at around 5 pm, officers were advised of smoke coming from inside a vacant building on Lisbon Road.
Young says the firefighters put the fire out, but it looked as though it was deliberately set and unknown persons left the property prior to emergency services arriving on site.
He says anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
