The COVID REPORT – proof required and a look at school numbers

Vaccination program kicks in today
As of now, you’ll need proof you’ve been vaccinated against COVID-19 before you can participate in a host of non-essential activities in Ontario.
The province’s vaccine certificate program requires the proof, plus a photo ID, to dine in at restaurants, go to the gym, or to attend large indoor gatherings.
Paper records can be downloaded from the province’s website, but a smartphone app, generating a Q-R code, will be available as of October 22nd.
Premier Doug Ford, who opposed the idea of a vaccine passport, admits there are still concerns over civil liberties.
But he adds the greater concern remains the threat of more lockdowns if there’s another surge in infections.
Ford says the measure is only temporary, and will be removed as soon as possible

Schools and the coronavirus numbers
Ontario’s chief medical officer of health says he’s not concerned by rising COVID-19 numbers in our schools.
Doctor Kieran Moore says transmission within schools is very limited, with most of the new cases in children coming from outside contact.
There were 293 new diagnoses reported in Ontario’s schools over the last three school days……up from 169 reported over the same period the week before.
Moore adds they continue to watch the situation very closely.
