Concerns about losing pets to wild animals

An Espanola woman wants someone to do something about coyotes and other wildlife in the area.

Pauline McColeman who lives on Lee Valley Road says a coyote came into her yard yesterday morning and took her beloved one-year-old miniature schnauzer Ozzy.

She says this is the second dog she has lost to the coyotes right in her own yard in the last 10 months.

McColeman says the dog was no more than ten feet away from her when out of nowhere the coyote snatched and ran off with him.

She says she fears for the children in the neighbourhood with coyotes being so brave during the day.

McColeman adds she has notified police and the Ministry of Natural Resources.

It is not the first report of pets going missing in Espanola with several missing cats being reported in the last couple of weeks.
