The Elliot Lake Red Wings has received some valuable support from city council.
Council agreed to a sponsorship of $10,000, half of the non-cash funding sought from the city
However, Will Elliott has clarified that the council unanimously supported the sponsorship over a five-year term agreeing to $50,000 in support.
Elliott adds city staff asked for a signed agreement with the board listing Elliot Lake as a creditor of record since the club still owes the city $50,000, and another $25,000 to ELNOS.
The agreement and bylaw will be brought before council at a later date.
In early April, the city was informed the Elliot Lake Wildcats, had been re-branded as the Elliot Lake Red Wings, but the debts are still owing with the team under the management of a group in Southern Ontario.
