Electrical believed the cause of a house fire in Elliot Lake

The Elliot Lake Fire Department was called out to a house fire at 124 Axsmith Avenue in Elliot Lake on Sunday afternoon.

Fire Chief John Thomas says there was heavy smoke damage throughout the home, although the department was able to contain the fire in the basement.

He adds the occupants were able to get out of the house and there were no injuries, but one family pet was lost.

Thomas adds the investigation determined the cause of the fire was electrical.

The homeowner is insured, but the tenants, a family of four, were not.
The family is looking for men’s clothing large, women’s clothing, size 9, 15-year-old girl, size 14, and items/clothing for a one-year baby boy, size 12 to 18months.
The most important thing is for the family of four to find a new place to live, preferably a two to three-bedroom home to rent in the city.

Anyone with a place to rent or wanting to help the family can call 705-698-1067.
