Blind River fire leaves mom and son homeless

The community of Blind River is coming together to help a local mother and her young son who lost everything to fire. Blind River Fire Chief Ken Raymond says the fire broke out just before nine on Tuesday morning and it took a crew of nearly 15 firefighters almost seven hours to put it out. He says the fire was already in the rafters of the home located on Dyke Street when they arrived, but fortunately, the woman and her five-year-old son escaped with no injuries. The two are now staying with a friend, but have lost everything. To that end, Lee Piche, a close friend, has set up a Go Fund Me page for donations to help the two afford a new rental home and buy new clothes, furniture and food.
