Green Party of Ontario Leader Visits Manitoulin

Guelph MPP and Leader of the Green Party of Ontario, Mike Schreiner, campaigned with local Green Party of Canada candidate Max Chapman last Thursday on Manitoulin. Chapman showed the leader around South Baymouth in the morning. The two later rode the Chi Cheemaun from South Baymouth to Tobermory.

Schreiner had been at the International Plow Match in Verner earlier in the week with a group of Northern Ontario Greens. Together they showed their support for local food and farming families.

“Mike is a very genuine and hardworking man,” said Mr. Chapman. “We spoke about our shared vision to grow rural communities in Ontario through investments in services and transitioning to sustainable resource development.”

The two discussed the future of forestry, agriculture, and regional transportation. They consider these industries vital to building a Green economy in Northern Ontario.

Max said that “meeting on the Chi-Cheemaun was the perfect way to show Manitoulin to the GPO Leader. It is a vital part of our local services, our tourism industry, and showcases the natural beauty we are lucky to experience here at home.”
