Six local area roads and bridges will see some major repairs following an announcement by Patty Hajdu, the Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour.
Hajdu was in the Town of Spanish last Friday to announce the rehabilitation of Algoma Street and Colonization Road.
She says several other communities, including Bruce Mines, Cockburn Island, Northeastern Manitoulin and The Islands and Plummer Additional will also receive funding to improve local road conditions for pedestrians and cyclists.
Hadju adds the Union Road Bridge in Central Manitoulin will also be replaced.
The Government of Canada is providing just over $4 million, one-third of the cost, with the rest of the funds coming from both the Ontario and municipal governments.
