Gore Bay council was not happy to receive two bids for the new fitness centre, both of which were higher than expected.
Gore Bay Mayor Dan Osborne says the town has set a budget of $650,000, but the bids they received were both substantially higher.
He says council did accept the lower bid from W.S. Morgan for $693,000 but he stressed the town will
recoup the additional costs through membership fees.
The new 2,400 square foot centre is expected to open in late February.
