There is a unique job opening for people who have an interest in the environment and wants to learn more about invasive species.
The Manitoulin Phragmites Project is looking for field team members, full time, approximately June 3 – August 30.
A three-year project led by project co-ordinator, Judith Jones, her staff works at removing Phragmites, a tall, European invasive grass that eventually smothers all other growth.
In 2018, they had 67 volunteers and staff from other organizations who put in over 790 hours.
The outdoor job involves control of invasive species, wetland and shoreline restoration, and assisting landowners with control.
In her report, Jones states last year, there was plenty of work done; 57 sites under control or eradicated; 12 sites previously worked needed no actions in 2018; 19 additional sites assessed for future work and 376 hectares of habitat under control.

Pays $16/hr. Must be 19 or older, have a valid class G licence and a good sense of humour.
