Espanola OPP make drug arrests in Espanola

This past Monday, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) with the assistance of the Espanola-Manitoulin OPP detachment and officers from the United Chiefs and Council of Manitoulin (UCCM) Anishnaabe Police, executed a warrant in the Town of Espanola.
Officers seized a number of drugs suspected to be methamphetamine as well as an unauthorized weapon suspected to be pepper spray. The estimated value of the drugs is approximately $1,200.As a result of the investigation, 32-year-old Vanessa Shears and 34-year-old Alain Galareneau, both from Espanola, Ontario have been charged with: Possession of a Schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking and Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon, contrary to section 91(2) of the Criminal Code (CC).

Both accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola, on June 3, 2019.
