Finding someone lost in the bush takes skill, patience and knowledge, and that’s where the North Shore Search & Rescue Unit comes in.
The unit took part in a mock search this Saturday looking for a lost snowmobiler who was suffering from hypothermia.
Vice-president Adam Page says the mock up put their command post, as well as new and seasoned searchers to the test.
They had to deal with unfamiliar terrain, medical care and extrication in the East Bull Lake Wilderness Resort.
Page adds it went well giving a realistic idea of how difficult a rescue can be, especially for new members, and is one of many that will be held throughout the year as ongoing training.
