The Elliot Lake and District Chamber of Commerce has donated some funds to help establish a new sensory playground for children with autism.
The chamber recently held a silent auction at is annual awards dinner raising $1,670 to donate to the Westview Park new sensory playground.
The first phase of the park is estimated to cost around $35,000 with another $27,000 needed for phase two.
The North Shore Cruisers Car Club has also partnered with the Elliot Lake Wildcats, the City of Elliot Lake and others to develop the park.
Safety fencing is being provided by Rona and rubberized matting will add to the safety features of the park.
Proponents hope to complete the park by the summer of 2019 depending on funding supports.
