The Dionne Quintuplets legacy acknowledged

The survival of the Dionne quintuplets in the midst of the Great Depression captured the world’s attention, and the sisters became an international sensation.

On May 28th, 1934, Annette and Cecile, and their deceased siblings: Yvonne, Émilie and Marie Dionne were born to a Franco-Ontario family in Corbeil.

Annette and Cecile, returned to their first home for an unveiling at the relocated museum this past weekend to attend the grand reopening of the museum hosted by the Dionne Quints Heritage Board.

Nipissing-Timiskaming MP Anthony Rota attended on behalf of Environment and Climate Change Minister Catherine McKenna.
It was McKenna, whose portfolio includes Parks Canada, who played a role in the federal government recognizing the birth of the Dionnes as being an event of historic significance in Canada.

A plaque commemorating their birth and contribution to Canada was unveiled at the museum Sunday afternoon.
