Parry Sound is open for business says Mayor Jamie McGarvey.
McGarvey says the district is huge and the fire is over 75 kilometres away, so anyone having plans to visit the local area are more than welcome.
He adds calling one of Ontario’s largest forest fires Parry Sound 33 is having a big negative impact on the town itself, so they would like a more positive message being sent out to the public.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forests say there are 47 forest fires in Northeastern Ontario, 21 are out of control, the rest observed or controlled.
They are also in the process of remapping the fire and consolidating the fire line.
There is also an air quality alert in place extending from the District of Killarney to Manitoulin Island and Espanola.
