A former long-time resident of Espanola has passed away. Eddie Bourque, who was 79, passed away in his Ottawa-area home of Stittsville. Bourque was born in North Bay, was raised in Estaire then made the move to Espanola in 1961. He ran a family business with his brother and just a few years ago made the move to Stittsville with his wife to be closer to family. Bourque was a key part of Espanola’s history because he bought the Willisville land south of the community and later built a series of condos. Bourque was involved with the Lions, Elks and was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. A funeral mass takes place this Saturday at St. Jude Roman Catholic Church.
