Northern Ontario elementary teacher becomes ETFO VP

An elementary teacher from Northern Ontario is the new female vice president of the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario.  Monica Rusnak was elected to the position at the federation’s annual meeting in Toronto.  Rusnak is the current president of the Ontario North East Teacher Local.  In being named VP, Rusnak told the 800 convention delegates she believes in the power of local bargaining.  Rusnak also told her colleagues to stand together against any attempts to take away teachers’ fundamental rights.   Rusnak adds she’ll push for the well-being of educators and ensure that students have a safe and healthy place to learn.
