Sears to close some Northern Ontario stores

The full-line Sears store in Sault Ste. Marie and the Sears Home store in Sudbury are closing.  The stores are two of the casualties as the retailer starts a restructuring that will see 59 stores close nation-wide and 2,900 people become jobless.  Also closing is the Sears Outlet shop in Timmins.  However the full-line stores in Sudbury and North Bay were spared.  Sears says the closures won’t affect warranties on mattresses and appliances.  No closing dates have been announced but the affected stores will have liquidation sales.  The retailer is looking for court protection from creditors as it restructures.
