Thessalon First Nation Chief passes away

A long-time Chief of the Thessalon First Nation has passed away.  Chief Alfred Bisaillon passed away on Saturday.  Grand Council Chief Patrick Madahbee had known Bisaillon since the early 1970s.  Madahbee says Bisaillon, who was 78, had a quiet strength about him and was a caring man who always did things in the best interest of his community.  The Grand Chief says Bisillon built the Thessalon First Nation into a modern community during his time in office.   He was largely responsible in creating the Bio-Centre which opened last September in Thessalon.  The centre produces elite plants using cutting-edge technology and includes 17 climate-controlled greenhouses.  The Thessalon Community Centre has been set-up to accept visitations today  from 2:00pm to 9:00pm and on Wednesday the community centre is also the site for Bisaillon`s funeral which begins at 1:00pm.
