Health unit suggests tick check when headed into forests

If you’re headed into woods make sure you do a tick check.  Ticks are tiny insects that can latch on to you and cause Lyme disease.  The Sudbury and District Health Unit suggests wearing long pants and long-sleeved shirts and closed toed-shoes.  Also consider insect repellant for exposed skin.  Only one person has contracted Lyme disease in the Sudbury health unit’s coverage area and that was in 2008.  If untreated, Lyme disease can cause heart problems and in rare cases can also kill you.
