Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli says the Liberals are squandering a great opportunity to bring plenty of work to the ONTC. Fedeli says following the Lac Megantic train disaster last year, the feds will want tanker cars to be doubled walled to minimize future spills. The Tory MPP says Ontario Northland is equipped to carry out that work but says the Wynne Liberals aren’t even looking at this. He says it makes no sense to wait for the contracts to be tendered adding the Liberals should start meeting with the parties now. Fedeli says with 80,000 rail cars that will need reinforcing across Canada, there’s more than enough work for everyone. Fedeli says he’s the only Northern politician pursuing this opportunity and is perplexed that the Liberals are silent on the initiative.
