Health unit releases partial cancer numbers for Algoma District

Over the past 10 years Algoma has seen nearly 75-hundred new cancer cases.  The age groups cover 15 to 75 year-olds.  The figures were complied by Algoma Public Health which will release a more detailed report later this summer.  The four most common cancers were prostate, breast, lung and colorectal.  Lung and colorectal cancers in the district were slightly above the provincial average, breast cancers were even and prostate cancer was below the provincial average.
