Northeastern heart care centre wins a national award for patient quality and safety

A heart care centre in northeastern Ontario is taking home a national award. The northeastern chapter of the Canadian Vascular Access Association has won Chapter of the Year. Media Officer for Health Sciences North, where the chapter is based, Dan Lessard, says the award is very meaningful for the volunteer-based group, as it is recognizing the work they are doing in the northeast while competing against chapters across Canada.

Lessard also notes that the award is thanks to continued learning, saying they are staying up-to-date and current with the highest standards in the profession. He says they can then take their skills and learning and apply it to their patients.

The chapter has has 160 members from over a dozen communities across northeastern Ontario. The organization was chosen as chapter of the year for their commitment to patient quality, safety, and innovative approaches to professional development.
