About 800 elders from across the region converge on the Serpent River First Nation on Thursday, July 17th. They’re on the reserve taking part in the annual regional elders’ picnic which is organized by the Serpent River and Mississagi First Nations. Elders attend the event to hear the Ojibwe language spoken fluently. The picnic runs from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
