Round table event deals with goals of sustainable development

Isadore Day, the chief of the Serpent River First Nation, says economic development projects in the region have to benefit his people.  Day was commenting following a panel discussion in Elliot Lake on sustainable development.  The event included the mayor of Elliot Lake, academics and Pele Mountain which wants to open a uranium and rare earth mine in the town.  Day says in addition to providing a good life for his people, economic development projects also need to safeguard the environment.  Elliot Lake mayor Rick Hamilton supports the Pele project because it will be good for the community.
