Ontario and Algoma Health Coalitions hosting town hall tomorrow – privatization of health care

Privatization of health care services is the focus of a town hall meeting to be held online tomorrow across the Algoma District.
Albert Dupuis, co-chair of the Algoma Health Coalition says the meeting will be held at the Moose Lodge in Sault Ste. Marie and online through Zoom at 7 pm tomorrow (Tuesday, November 3).
He says Alberta passed legislation on October 1 that the coalition believes could end universal health care by allowing private clinics to charge patients for surgeries and test, enable the wealthy to skip the queue, and more.
Dupuis says the Ford government is allowing privatization of primary care with pay-your-way nurse practitioner clinics and online companies.
The speakers include Natalie Mehra, Executive Director, Ontario Health Coalition (in-person); Steven Staples, Director of Policy, Canadian Health Coalition (Zoom); and Dr. Dick Zoutman, retired physician and infectious disease specialist (Zoom).
For more information contact: Albert Dupuis, co-chair of the Algoma Health Coalition (613) 808-7710; Natalie Mehra, executive director of the Ontario Health Coalition (416) 230-6402.
