Friday night’s game between the Espanola Paper Kings and the French River Rapids was a treat for the Kings on home ice.
A three-goal night from Cameron Menard helped the Kings defeat the Rapids 7-2 in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League matchup Friday at the Espanola Regional Recreation Complex.
Getting goals from five different players, the Kings used their balanced attack to clip the Soo Thunderbirds 5-4 Sunday in hockey action at John Rhodes Community Centre.
The Blind River Beavers also took to the ice twice this weekend.
Samuel Gold made his mark Saturday night, scoring twice as the Soo Eagles defeated the visiting Blind River Beavers 5 – 3 at Pullar Stadium.
And, benefitting from a bounce off the end boards, Ethan McLean backhanded in the game-winner 4:13 into overtime as the Beavers edged the Powassan Voodoos 1-0 Sunday afternoon at the Blind River Community Centre.
