Wikwemikong police says officers arrested a man following an attempted break in at the local water tower.
Police Chief Ron Gignac says just before three am Sunday morning, officers responded to the report that a man was trying to break into the community water tower.
He says when police arrived, the man fled on foot into a wooded area while making verbal threats towards the officers.
Gignac says the canine unit was then called out and the suspect arrested shortly after, but while in custody, continued to be combative and caused damage to police property.
He says a 34-year-old man from Wiikwemkoong has been charged with break and enter, two
counts of assaulting a peace officer, uttering threats and mischief, and is being held in police custody until a bail hearing.
