The Minister of Emergency Preparedness & Response, Jill Dunlop, and Algoma-Manitoulin MPP Bill Rosenberg visited firefighters in Espanola on Wednesday to present several pieces of equipment.
Dunlop took a tour of the fire hall and announced funds from an approved Community Emergency Preparedness Grant were used to purchase essential equipment.
The money was used to buy six portable generators, which can be used in emergency situations, such as powering warming centres, food preparation, emergency dispensing of fuel for first responders and more.
The grant was also used to purchase 72-hour emergency packs, and promotional materials for distribution to the public, including stickers, magnets and decals.
