Elliot Lake council has given its approval to hiring a company to find funding for the Rogers Arena.
At this week’s council meeting, Director of Finance Andrew Ault recommended to council that Political Intelligence, a public & government relations and lobbying firm, be hired to assist with identifying and accessing public funding opportunities for the arena repair project.
The agreement has a cap of $27,500 ($7,000 per month) with the contract running until the end of December.
Council agreed to the hiring but want an updated report by the end of the year.
It will make the decision then whether the contract will be extended, and the contract to be considered as an expenditure in the 2026 municipal budget.
