The Rainbow District School Board and Cambrian are celebrating after hitting the 1,000-graduate milestone at the Barrydowne campus.
The board has a partnership with Cambrian College for students wanting to complete their high school diploma.
Education Director Bruce Bourget says many have gone back to school at the college proving its value as a re-engagement school for students 18 to 21 years old.
He adds while students are taught by board teachers, they can also access dual credit courses taught by Cambrian professors.
Bourget adds learning is individualized so students can work at their own pace adding the Barrydowne campus has continuous intake, so they can also register and start at any time during the school year.
The school offers a wide variety of courses including elective credits such as Art, Food and Nutrition, First Nations, Métis and Inuit Studies as well as a Specialist High Skills Major in Arts and Culture. Students earn credits, build soft skills, and develop links to community college programs including Dual Credits.
Students have the potential to earn paid Co-operative Education credits.
Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR), a formal evaluation and credit-granting process for mature students, is available.
