City council has given approval to sign a deal with PCL as the new construction manager for its proposed $225-million downtown arena and events centre.

He adds site preparation will begin soon with construction starting in the first quarter of 2026.
Cecutti says the new facility is expected to take two years to build adding as the construction manager, PCL will handle all aspects of construction in having decision-making authority through the process in alignment with “community priorities, municipal standards and guidelines.”
Through a separate and unrelated competitive process, PCL Construction was also selected as the Construction Manager for the Cultural Hub at Tom Davies Square.
