Schools in the Algoma District are considered communities of their own, and to that end, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service has appointed an officer as a liaison who will work with 33 different elementary schools.
The Sault Police has entered a partnership with the Algoma District School Board and the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board that will see the return of a full-time, uniformed Elementary School Liaison Officer.
He is Constable Mark Prophet, who has been a police officer for over 11 years.
Prior to joining the Sault Police, Mark earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and geography at Algoma University, as well as a Bachelor of Education degree from Lakehead University, and taught for ten years before becoming an officer.
