The province is investing $180,000 in projects led by the Manitoulin Streams Improvement Association to protect and strengthen creeks and rivers on the island.
Officials say the money will go to rehabilitate Blue Jay Creek through the Great Lakes Program. Money will help support the removal of invasive species and cleaning up plastic waste with help from schools and First Nation communities.
Funds will also help plant trees and shrubs, install fencing, and restore the Manitou River.
The province says the project will promote healthy fisheries, increase biodiversity, and contribute to stronger local economies.
