Around 200 people took part in the Celebration of Life for Elliot Lake’s Little Warrior on Saturday.
Elijah Hennessey passed away just over a week ago following a cardiac arrest at Toronto’s Sick Kids Hospital.
The youngster was born with heterotaxy syndrome, a rare congenital condition that disrupts the typical arrangement of internal organs, affecting his heart, lungs and vascular system
His mother, Jessie, keeps a special string of beads close to her because it reflects Elijah’s journey from the time of his birth and now his passing, and it now will be an important reminder and cherished memento of his time with us.
It features every colour in the rainbow and represents medical challenges from ambulance rides to tube feeding, surgeries and recoveries, and so much more.
She thanks everyone who gathered with the family to honour his memory and for their ongoing support as they deal with their loss.
Jessie adds the funds raised through GoFundMe, which were to go towards surgery in Boston, will now go towards creating a legacy in Elijah’s memory.
He was seven years old.
