GSPS Hosts Associate Solicitor General focusing on auto theft and bail reform

Late last week, the Greater Sudbury Police Service hosted Zee Hamid, the Associate Solicitor General for Auto Theft and Bail Reform, as part of his provincial Bail Reform initiative.
He commended the service for their leadership in adopting the Provincial Bail Compliance Dashboard, adding the innovative tool that gives officers real-time data to monitor high-risk offenders.
He adds the Greater Sudbury Police Service is one of 18 Ontario police services to access the dashboard as a situational awareness and investigative tool, managed by the OPP, that provides data to assist Ontario’s police officers with managing individuals on bail.
He adds that the service is available to all police services in Ontario.
Since January 2024, as part of the Bail Compliance and Warrant Apprehension Program, a total of 830 warrants have been executed by the Greater Sudbury Police Service Community Response Unit.
A total of 622 compliance checks have been completed on 139 accused individuals, averaging a 76% compliance rate.
Since the launch of the Bail Compliance Dashboard (firearms-related offences) on July 3rd, 2025, an additional 18 compliance checks have been carried out on 47 accused individuals, with a 44% compliance rate.
