Manitoulin OPP has charged two individuals in relation to an infant death investigation that began last year.
Constable Berkley Parisien says on Oct. 1, 2024, shortly before 9:00 a.m., officers and medical staff responded to a residence in Burpee Township regarding an infant with no vital signs. She says the infant was transported to a local hospital by paramedics and later pronounced deceased.
Last Thursday, a 40-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, both from Burpee Township, were arrested and charged with second degree murder.
She adds both remain in custody and are to appear in Sudbury Court in August.
Parisien says the investigation is ongoing and anyone with any information is encouraged to call police.
