Car Wash and BBQ in the works for Espanola paramedic

An Espanola paramedic has been chosen as a participant in the 2025 Iceland Cycling Event with the International Myeloma Foundation.
Ashley Dieks was 36 years old when she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2022.
Her co-worker, Kathryn Marion, is organizing a car wash and barbecue at the Espanola Elks this Saturday, July 12th, from 11 am to 4 pm to help Ashley raise the $1,500 needed to attend the international cycling event.
Dieks says cycling became more than a form of exercise during her treatment because it is now an essential part of her recovery.
She took part in a 14-day, 1,400-kilometre cycling challenge from Sudbury to Montreal in June.
Ashley not only raised funds for her cause, but she was also selected to join 14 others chosen to take part in the international ride in Iceland from August 27th to September 2nd.
She is the only Canadian.
She also has a fundraising page.
Marion adds that the fundraiser is also a family event, which will include face painting and henna.
