Gore Bay implements no fishing zones in dockage area

Gore Bay has been undertaking a revitalization of its downtown, which includes the marina, and to that end, the town has implemented no fishing zones in the area.
The Town of Gore Bay is the owner of most of the lands and related facilities on the Gore Bay waterfront (east of Water Street from the Red Roof Pavilion (Purvis Fish & Chips) to Fish Point Park), with officials adding all the net revenue from rentals fund town public services and community facilities.
Council states in an effort to ensure the ability to raise that revenue, the town is asking that the privacy of the renters be respected with no fishing activity taking place on the docks.
The notice includes the floating boat docks, the swim docks, the beach area and the main dock.
The town is also asking that at no time during the year should fish be cleaned in the marina area including on any of the docks or fish carcasses to be placed in the waters of Gore Bay.
