The Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities is welcoming the latest Ontario budget, which also changed the map of their coverage area to include the District of Muskoka.
FONOM President Danny Whalen says expanding the provincial definition of “Northern Ontario” to include the District of Muskoka marks a significant shift adding the organization welcomes the change and looks forward to working collaboratively with Muskoka to benefit the broader northern region.
He adds this year’s budget reflects a “Tariff and Northern” approach, offering a strong foundation for investment in Ontario’s North including an increase in the funding of the Connecting Link Program.
Whalen says the budget also includes the completion of the twinning of Highway 69, targeted financial support for northern colleges and more.
