Now that the warmer weather is here, structural foundation work is resuming at Elliot Lake’s Roger’s Arena.
Elliot Lake council has approved an additional $1.66 million for the work, which is resuming following additional soil testing and an engineering analysis.
The reports showed the need for additional redesign to double the number of micro piles to four to ensure the long-term structural integrity of the facility.
The design team has set a timeline for August to have the work finished.
Once it is done, there will have to be an updated assessment and timeline completed to re-open the facility.
Still with the arena, officials say roof work is nearly done with some flashing remaining to be installed, which will complete the exterior work needed on the building.
