The newly formed Mindemoya Arena Repair Committee on Manitoulin Island has received a significant donation to go towards repairs to the facility.
According to the release, Finn’s Gas Bar in M’Chigeeng First Nation made a $10,000 donation to go towards repairs to the facility.
The committee says that brings the total raised so far to $22,000.
The repairs include structural repairs to a bowing wall, which included shoring up the wall.
Richard Stephens, mayor of Central Manitoulin, says council approved spending $150,000 for the repairs, adding he is pleased to see the community so involved in the project.
The committee is working on several fundraising ideas including a Hillbilly Supper on July 12th, other dinners, a gold tournament and a Buy-A-Block Donor Recognition Wall.
