Espanola Paper Kings are out, Blind River Beavers into playoffs

A big win by the Iroquois Falls Storm has knocked the Espanola Paper Kings out of the playoffs for the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League.

The Storm defeated the French River Rapids 9-2 on Saturday at the Noelville Arena securing the eighth and final spot.

That was despite a 7 – 6 win by the Paper Kings on home ice against the Soo Eagles on Friday night.
The victory secures the eighth and final NOJHL playoff spot for the Storm that will take on the No. 1 seeded Greater Sudbury Cubs in the best-of-seven quarter-final series that starts this week.

The quarter-final series also includes the No. 3 seeded Blind River Beavers taking on the No. 6 Soo Thunderbirds this Thursday evening at the Blind River Community Centre.

The puck drops at 7 pm.

And, the Paper Kings capped off their season with a 7-2 triumph over the Powassan Voodoos Sunday evening at the Powassan Sportsplex.
