Osprey Nest Relocation Project in Espanola

Espanola Hydro has secured some new housing for ospreys at the south end of town.
According to the release, back in 2014, ospreys began nesting on a hydropower pole at the intersection of McCulloh Drive and Highway Six.
To protect them, a temporary platform was installed across the street and has attracted photography buffs throughout the years.
The original platform deteriorated, so the utility built a new platform last week to ensure the nest’s safety.
With spring on its way, the public is now anticipating the return of the birds.
