Elliot Lake Fishing Derby a go

The City of Elliot Lake has entered a Memorandum of Understanding to host one of the province’s most popular fishing derbies.
The memorandum is between the city and Right Track Racing, owned by Blaise Kurucz.
The derby will be held on March 15th at Spine Beach.
Economic Development Manager Steve Antunes says Kurucz has been busy organizing the event behind the scenes, attracting hundreds of fishers.
He says the entry fee is $100 per hole with the winning fish garnering the fisher half of the money raised, noting at the 2023 derby, the winner took home over $20,000.
The city approved the memorandum and also agreed to a sponsorship of $3,000 to go towards the event.
The website for more information and tickets is expected to be launched soon.
