Reopening of Elliot Lake’s Ruben Yli-Juuti Pool will be gradual

The City of Elliot Lake is preparing to reopen the Ruben Yli-Juuti Pool, which has been closed for retrofits for the last two years.
City Director of Recreation and Culture Kari Kluke says the pool can potentially be able to open as early as next week.
However, she says there are some outstanding issues including a 30-day waiting period to pass the inspection by Algoma Public Health, adding the agency has approved opening the large pool.
Kluke says two washrooms, a family change room and the women’s washroom need regulating valves to control temperature so that work will take a couple of weeks, adding work to replace the hot tub mixing jet nozzles is also underway.
The facility will be reopened in stages and the city hopes to have it opened to the public early in the new year.
