Commonwell LEAF offers funding for the Espanola library

The Espanola Public Library is hoping the public will help them through the grant process for some funding to support local projects.
Librarian Laura Luopa says the Commonwell’s Learning Engagement Accelerator Fund (L.E.A.F.) The program supports projects with the goal of learning and engagement within communities.
She says it is sponsored by Commonwell Mutual Insurance and can provide up to 100% of the funding for projects, but the public can also help.
Luopa says the library has applied for the grant to further its vision of becoming a community hub, which includes creating play-based learning spaces, purchasing flexible furniture, converting unused space into a study room and acquiring new collections and resources.
The deadline is this Friday with the grant application being submitted to the program.
She adds that part of the review criteria is community support demonstrated through comments and stories on the L.E.A.F. website and through social media shares, so she is reaching out to the public to add a story or leave a comment on the project page to help with the process.
A key component of the grant application is demonstrating community support for the library and the project. If you’d be willing to take a moment to add a story or leave a comment on our project page by Friday, November 15, we would deeply appreciate it: Espanola Public Library Learning Hub | The Commonwell.
